A Child is Born……

At 16.25 GMT on 22 July 2013 a baby boy was born in a private hospital in London.  At the same time 50 babies were born into extreme poverty.  They, along with millions of others, will never have the opportunities, health care, education, privileges, or even the most basic of requirements such as adequate nutrition awarded to the royal baby by pure chance.  Many will die before their fifth birthday and those ‘lucky’ enough to reach adulthood may live in intolerable suffering and servitude……

I wish the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their new born child well, but this is not a day for celebration beyond the immediate family.  It is a day for contemplation.  The millions of pounds that will be spent on one privileged individual could help to save the lives of many and help to reduce the suffering of countless others who were not blessed by an accident of birth……
