Political Priorities……

The Prime Minister’s Latest Declaration……

Prime Minister David Cameron has this week announced that they will look at closing the loopholes which allow rich individuals & corporations to avoid paying tax.  This is not an announcement of a Parliamentary Bill to curtail this behaviour and is no more than a ‘sound bite’ of political rhetoric.  Time will tell if it comes to pass.  Strange that considering the Conservative Manifesto highlighted ‘reward for failure’ in light of the astronomical bonuses which continue to be paid to the bankers who the tax payer bailed out to the tune of £65 billion but have continued to receive their bonuses regardless of their failings……

Priorities……

I find it abhorrent that HMG has started at the bottom with the Welfare Reform Bill and measures to cut public services as their first act in power.  Whist distracting us with the News of the World phone hacking scandal and other matters which don’t have any effect on most of our lives, they are only now making hay with the banks.

The sum of money involved in tax avoidance is around £25 billion.  It is surely better to recoup the money from these individuals and corporations before slashing public services and targeting the poorest members of our society……

Blindingly Obvious Tactics……

It is obvious to most people that our politicians are as close to the bankers as they are to US foreign policy.  They have made no attempt to save any of our industry upon which they claim our future growth lies eg; Bombardier, the train makers and our steel production.  Just as long as the banks survive they are happy as this is the mechanism via which the money flows from the bottom to the top……

Finally……

This is yet another example of how our self serving politicians formulate policy in their own interests.  We live in a ‘suedo-democracy’.  However, I do not consider the actions of our ‘elected’ representatives is any different from that of the Middle Eastern Dictatorships, with whom we have been happy to business, the only difference being the title under which it is sold to us.  All parties make big promises whilst trying to get elected but these promises seem to fly out of the window the minute they achieve their objective.  It is high time we held our politicians to account……

‘We are all in this together’……

Please write or email your local MP and ask specific questions regarding their behaviour.  Include your name and address and demand a reply.  If you’re not happy with the answer you get, book an appointment at your MP’s local surgery and confront them directly, after all ‘They work for you’……

Good on you for doing what you do. I’m not sure this link is for people in Australia? You seem very on the ball though, with politics and I really admire that because the “average person” lacks.
